Characters on the camino

It´s funny how you meet and observe different groups on the camino. We have nicknamed various individuals as we don´t know their real names ! Our first character is "Lanky 2 sticks" a lovely tall Spanish youth who walks with a long stide and 2 wooden poles. He is accompanying his mother who is multi lingual and also tall and a bit of a matriarch. They seem to have surrounded themselves with a varied group of Spaniards ! There is "Loud lady" who not only chatters all day but snores all night ! Mr Smiley who is just that and who has a rudimentary Maori tattoo on his arm. We think he said that one of his grandfathers had married a NZer ! Then there´s Mr Black Trilby with beard - he looks like someone out of an arty German movie ! However he has a willing smile and greeting. He chats to Gabe but Gabe hasn´t a clue as to what he´s saying !
Sadly we have lost this group as they are staying 5ks further on today. Hope we can catch them at tomorrow´s stop. It´s also funny how you can never find the cafes in these tiny towns ! Todays breakfast stop in a town smaller than Turakina - and we still couldn´t find the cafe which was hidden down a street on the furtherest edge of town ! It´s helped immensely that most of the camino has been in shaded forrests so far ! Not looking forward to the unshaded expanses coming up !
